On Sunday Night, John Emery Jr was one of the brightest spots for the LSU Football team rushing for 61 yards on ten carries adding another ten yards receiving. It looked like Emery truly had arrived, and it was incredible to see given how hard he had to fight to come back from his injury last season. The performance made Emery one of the players to keep an eye on the rest of the season.

The Tigers will now be without John Emery Jr for the rest of the season as he suffered a torn ACL at practice on Tuesday.

The news is truly gut wrenching for Emery given everything he's went through. Emery was one of the most highly touted running backs coming out of High School, and chose to stay at LSU as a part of the pipeline from Destrehan to LSU. He won a National Championship in 2019, and missed the 2021 season with academic issues yet, he never stopped fighting to get back onto the team.

In 2023, Emery as a fifth year senior suffered a torn ACL late in the season that killed any chance of him going to the NFL while it jeopardized his status for 2024. He entered the transfer portal before returning to LSU to finish his career with the Tigers and now this news truly isn't fair.

It'll be up to the younger backs to step up

The LSU Football team was light at running back coming into the season and now with Emery injured and Trey Holly still suspended things aren't great for the Tigers. Josh Williams and Kaleb Jackson will lead the group while Caden Durham becomes a mssive piece for this team. If LSU is going to go on a run toward the Playoff, it'll need for Durham or Jackson to emerge as a top back.
