LSU Football will be without two contributors due to injuries this weekend
The LSU Football team entered the season with minimal injuries on Sunday night as only Chris Hilton Jr missed the game as he dealt with a bone bruise. Hilton certainly could have made a difference as the fastest player on this team as USC would've had to respect his speed.
In place of Chris Hilton Jr, Redshirt Freshman Kyle Parker made his first start for the Tigers. We only saw a bit of Parker as he exited the game with what appeared to be at the time an elbow injury. On Tuesday, Brian Kelly ruled Parker doubtful for Saturday Night's game with a UCL injury. A UCL injury is most commonly associated with Tommy John surgery in baseball but, Kelly said we can expect to see Parker back in the weeks to come.
When Parker exited the game, we saw a heavy dosage of Aaron Anderson and Zavion Thomas. Both impressed on Sunday, and we'll likely see them get reps but, Chris Hilton Jr will return to the starting role. Brian Kelly did name one player that the Tigers want to get ramped up in Shelton Sampson so we can expect to see him on the field this weekend.
The Tigers do however have a serious injury to outside linebacker Princeton Malbrue. The Junior suffered what Brian Kelly described as a major knee injury which is concerning and he'll undergo further testing this week.
Outside of Parker and Malbrue, the Tigers are seemingly fully healthy and ready to go in week two.
LSU must stay healthy this week
Aside from the obvious statement that LSU must win their game this weekend the biggest concern after that is staying healthy. The Tigers can ill afford to lose a key contributor in a game that the reserves could win so as always you hope for health. The Tigers should let Chris Hilton Jr give it a go but, if there's any risk of re-injury, the team would be best suited by Hilton waiting one more week to make his debut.
