LSU Football will have a chance to land a second commitment at cornerback in August
The LSU Football team currently holds 22 commitments in the 2025 recruiting class with the Tigers' class ranking third in the country. The class consists of eight top 100 commitments and a perfect split of 11 commits on each side of the football. There are few positions where LSU needs serious work in this recruiting class outside of cornerback.
Corey Raymond currently holds one commitment and it's a great one to hold as it comes from the top-ranked defensive player in the class according to On3, DJ Pickett. The LSU Football team will need to add at least two more commitments to the position as every program in the country continues to push for DJ Pickett.
The Tigers will have a chance to land their second commitment at cornerback in Louisiana Native Aidan Anding. The Ruston star is ranked by On3 as a three-star recruit ranking as the Nation's 31st ranked cornerback and the 12th ranked player in Louisiana.
For a long time, it looked like the Texas Longhorns were going to land Anding however, LSU made up a ton of ground causing Anding to push back his commitment date. He'll now announce which school he'll attend before the end of August and LSU will be up against Arkansas and Texas.
The Tigers have seemingly taken the lead thanks in part to the Bayou Splash recruiting weekend where the Tigers were able to further push for Anding while some of the best players in the state were on campus. At Ruston, Anding played alongside LSU Freshman Ahmad Breaux and 2027 top-50 recruit Ahmad Houston he also guarded LSU freshman Trey'Dez Green in the State Championship Game.
Corey Raymond may not get to bring in too many of "his guys"
When looking at the eligibility remaining on the current roster, the only cornerback who won't return to LSU is Zy Alexander. The Tigers will likely lose a defensive back or two to the NFL Draft and the transfer portal but, LSU likely will have a ton of the same faces back in 2025. Realistically, you'd like to see Raymond sign three cornerbacks at minimum while ending up with four in this class is the most ideal outcome.
