LSU Football will likely achieve a program-first in next year's NFL Draft
Every year when the NFL Draft rolls around, its a celebration of the LSU Football program and its players' great achievements. You'd have to look back all the way to 1993 to find the last time the Tigers didn't have a player selected. Most years, the LSU Football program sends at least one player into the first round while most years its multiple.
The Tigers have had a player selected in the first round at every position except for two positions Center and Offensive Tackle. LSU hasn't been bad at producing offensive tackles as Andrew Whitworth was a second-round pick becoming one of the league's best and La'el Collins should have been LSU's first offensive tackle selected in the first round if not for his draft slide.
This season if all goes well, the LSU Football team may go from having no first round picks at offensive tackle to having two selections at the position.
Heading into the season, Will Campbell is projected as a first round pick in any mock draft you'll see while most mock drafts have him coming off the board as a top ten selection. Pro Football Focus described Will Campbell as both the best pass protector in the class and the best Man/Gap Run Blocker in the class.
On the right side of the offensive line, Emery Jones Jr is arguably the most underrated player in all of College Football. As teams tried to avoid sending their best pass rusher up against Will Campbell they've quickly learned that Emery Jones Jr is elite as well. Throughout his career, Jones' experience against players like Will Anderson, Jalen Carter, Dallas Turner, and countless NFL talents has helped build him into one of the best players in the game.
What would need to happen for this class to top the 2020 Draft Night
The biggest LSU celebration at the NFL Draft was far and away at the 2020 NFL Draft where LSU had five players selected in the first round. Heading into the year, LSU has three projected first-round picks in Campbell, Jones, and Harold Perkins Jr. If LSU wanted to break its record and the overall record which is six the path is rather simple. If LSU had one of the Nation's best passing attacks, you could easily see Kyren Lacy, Garrett Nussmeier, Mason Taylor, and CJ Daniels all becoming first round picks.
