This year was one of the more unpredictable years in terms of gauging where the LSU Baseball players would head in the 2024 MLB Draft. This was on full display as Tommy White was a consensus first-round pick in MLB Mock Drafts before falling out of the first round. The MLB Draft was also complicated with players like LSU Commit William Schmidt pulled their names out of the MLB Draft hours prior to the event.

The LSU Baseball team had its second player selected in the MLB Draft as Starting Pitcher Luke Holman came off the board with the 71st pick as he heads to Cincinnati to play for the Reds.

Holman joins one of baseball's most exciting young teams with players like Elly De La Cruz, Matt McClain, Jonathan India, Will Benson, and Spencer Steer all giving the team a promising future. Working in Luke Holman's favor is the fact that the majority of the Reds' young players and top prospects outside of Rhett Lowder are all fielders giving Holman a great shot at flying through the minors.

In his lone season at LSU, Holman was dominant with a 9-4 record and a 2.75 ERA across 91.2 innings pitched while striking out 127 batters. His performance this season saw Holman earn Second-Team All-SEC honors and Second-Team All-American Honors.

Still some important LSU Baseball developments on Day Two

While three LSU Tigers and three LSU Baseball commitments heard their names called there is still plenty to follow for the LSU Baseball team. Key pieces in Jared Jones and Griffin Herring haven't heard their names called yet and a further slide could see them decide to return to a loaded LSU Baseball team. The Tigers have, however already gotten a massive boost as Cade Arrambide and William Schmidt pulled their names out of the MLB Draft.
