We're all aware that the LSU Football team lost last weekend on Sunday Night against the USC Trojans and it was certainly disappointing. While the loss stung, a few things were clear, the Tigers are clearly much better than they were last year on defense, Garrett Nussmeier is very good for a first-time starter, and there is still a ton that needs to be worked on.

It was easy to be impressed with a ton of what the Tigers showed on Sunday night overall. One of those people impressed with LSU's showing on Sunday is former LSU Head Coach Nick Saban. On College Gameday, Saban spoke on the Tigers and reassured the fanbase that the sky is not falling.

"I think all of these teams have some issues that they need to resolve on their team but, you know the one team I was impressed with was LSU. And it reminded me of a story from when I first started coaching Michigan State, we played Nebraska and we got the dog beat out of us. And I thought we'd never ever win another game. I go after the game and shake hands with Tom Osborne and he puts his arm around me and he says you are not as bad as you think. That's the message that I'd give to LSU, you're not as bad as you think."

This is a high mark from Nick Saban and he was very high on the USC Trojans as he sung the praises of this USC Trojans group the entire off-season.

LSU will prove Saban right down the line

The Tigers beating Nicholls State, South Carolina, UCLA, or South Carolina won't be games that help LSU in proving they're one of the top teams this year. Those games, however, give LSU the chance to fix its mistakes before they take on an incredible Ole Miss team. The Tigers still have three games against College Football Playoff contenders in Oklahoma, Alabama, and Ole Miss meaning the Tigers control their own Playoff destiny in many ways.
