Legendary college football radio host and ESPN commentator Paul Finebaum made a point of criticizing College Gameday's choice of Columbia, South Carolina as the host site for week 3.

Finebaum made the comments as a guest on The Matt Barrie Show under the ESPN College Football umbrella on Tuesday. He revealed that many South Carolina fans called into his show last week wondering when head coach Shane Beamer would be fired in the wake of the Gamecocks' week one struggles against group of 5 team Old Dominion. The reliable college football commentator did not mince words when discussing ESPN's sudden decision to send the College Gameday crew to Columbia this weekend.

"The idea that GameDay would go to LSU at South Carolina? I mean, that's one of the more bizarre GameDay choices in its history."

Finebaum revealed his belief that South Carolina's unexpected beat down of SEC East rival Kentucky in week 2, "stole Gameday from Lexington," believing that the crew had initially planned to spotlight the week 3 matchup between Georgia and Kentucky who were predicted to be undefeated going into their game.

The game between LSU and South Carolina will mark the beginning of SEC play for LSU while South Carolina beat the Kentucky Wildcats last weekend. LSU hopes to continue the offensive fireworks it sparked in the second half of last week's game with Garrett Nussmeier's 6 touchdown performance against Nicholls State.

The College Gameday broadcast will kick off on ESPN at 9 AM Central Time and will run until the games 11 AM kickoff. The game will be broadcast on ABC and ESPN + at 11 AM Central Time with the Kirk Herbstreit, Chris Fowler, and Holly Rowe on the call.
