LSU opened up its NCAA Tournament Friday morning facing off against the Wofford Terriers. After the discussion all week was whether Jay Johnson would start Gage Jump or Luke Holman or if he would save the two aces for Saturday, Johnson started Jump. The Terriers sent out Braxton Little who was making just his fifth start entering the game 2-0 with a 4.76 ERA.

The Tigers saw early why the Wofford offense was one of the best in the country as a double followed by a sac bunt and a sac fly gave the Terriers a 1-0 lead before the Terriers tacked on another.

The LSU offense struggled mightily against Braxton Little as he finished the day pitching five scoreless innings allowing just two hits and three walks while striking out three.

The score would hold at 2-0 from the second inning until the bottom of the seventh when Steven Milam sporting his Tiger striped hair put LSU on the board with a solo home run.

It seemed that Gage Jump was done for the day however, Jackson sent him out for the 8th inning where he immediately gave up a solo home run to give the Terriers a 3-1 lead. Jump gave LSU all you could ask for pitching 7.1 innings allowing six hits and three runs while striking out nine.

If LSU was going to comeback it needed the top of the order to come up big in the top of the eighth and Michael Braswell III did just that crushing a home run over the scoreboard. Bear Jones wouldn't allow Braswell to show him up and smashed a home run to right field to tie the game at three.

After Griffin Herring shut down the Wofford offense in the ninth Steven Milam came through massive again walking the game off on a monster home run.

LSU Baseball's power prevails late

Through six innings, the Wofford offense was dinking and dunking hits while LSU struggled to put anything together. The Tigers then hit four home runs in the final three innings to survive aginst Wofford. The LSU Tigers will now face the winner of North Carolina and Long Island's game tomorrow night with Luke Holman on the mound.
