The latest on Trey Holly makes LSU a potential transfer portal destination for RBs
The LSU Football team thought that running back Trey Holly may be nearing a return this Spring when a jury threw out the attempted second-degree murder charge however, Holly was given a felony weapons charge against Holly. The trial was expected to begin this Summer with the hope that Holly would be available for LSU this Summer. The latest news however doesn't bode well for Trey Holly or LSU Football.
The Judge in the case had to recuse himself due to a conflict of interest resulting in a new judge being placed on the case. The trial is now not expected to happen until the beginning of 2025 to the middle of 2025.
The case being pushed back once again doesn't fare well for Trey Holly playing in 2024 as the school likely won't reinstate him until his legal issue is resolved. This is both a blow to LSU and Holly as the sides expected he could return before the start of this season.
The LSU Football team is now an attractive landing spot for a transfer running back while the team should consider looking to add a running back. Without Holly, LSU will only have three running backs on the roster heading into 2024.
One option that could return to LSU is John Emery Jr who entered the transfer portal but, hasn't committed yet. There are several talented backs still available in the transfer portal including Jalen Berger, Keshawn Wicks, and Star Thomas among others.
This team needs to add a running back
The LSU Football team at this point needs to add a transfer body at running back if they're going to make it through the 2024-25 season. The team lost three of it's top six rushers and four of it's top seven if Holly can't return this season. The Tigers have 2,200 yards of rushing production to replace which will be hard with just three backs especially if the team loses a back to injury.
