The LSU Football team got its first crack at hosting committed players and recruiting targets this weekend when LSU hosted Nicholls State. While it's a chance to get the committed players onto campus along with other 2025 recruiting targets these weekends are mostly for the underclassmen. Getting recruiting targets onto campus before they make a decision is massive as the atmosphere in Tiger Stadium is unmatched.

This weekend was headlined by visitors like Harlem Berry, JT Lindsey, Tyler Miller, Keylan Moses, and Jhase Thomas among others. The committed players were able to continue to build their bonds while they also could help in recruiting some of the 2026 and 2027 recruits that LSU gets onto campus.

This weekend, LSU had a few of their top priorities in the 2026 and 2027 class on campus in Lamar Brown, Jabari Mack, and Elijah Haven.

The most intriguing player in that grouping is top 2027 target Elijah Haven who was on the sideline sporting LSU apparel. Haven is ranked by On3 as the Nation's 11th ranked layer and top quarterback in the class while 24/7 Sports has him as their top overall recruit.

The Tigers haven't made much progress with any of the top 2026 quarterbacks because Bryce Underwood will seemingly block their chance for playing time which makes landing a top signal caller in the 2027 class important.

Having the Nation's top quarterback in LSU's backyard will be massive for the Tigers especially given the fact that he's a Baton Rouge native. The Tigers should be able to get Haven onto campus for games all the time given the proximity which has to make them the team to beat in his recruitment.

Oh how the times have changed in Baton Rouge

For nearly the entire 2000's it often felt that the LSU Football team was only a quarterback away from being the Nation's top team. This has drastically shifted as it now feels like LSU is recruiting quarterbacks at an unbelievable rate but, the defense has now slipped. If Brian Kelly and his staff continue to recruit at the rate they'll consistently be a team in playoff contention in this twelve team format.
