The LSU Tigers have two athletes nominated for three awards at the ESPYs
One of the most fun nights in sports is right around the corner as ESPN's Sports Award Show "The ESPYs" takes place on July 11th. The night is incredible as we see a ton of the best athletes in the world all in one room with a handful taking home awards. Most of the awards given out are to professional athletes but, LSU has two athletes nominated for three awards at this year's ESPYs.
Haleigh Bryant - Best Breakthrough Athlete and Best College Athlete in Womens Sports
Haleigh Bryant's long running list of incredible honors continues to grow as she's been nominated for two ESPYs one for the Best Breakthrough Athlete and Best College Athlete in Women's Sports. For Best Breakthrough Athlete Bryant is up against CJ Stroud, Juju Watkins, and Victor Wembanyama which makes it tough for her to win as the two Rookie's of the Year will garner a ton of votes from the fans. In the race for Best College Athlete in Women's Sports, Bryant is again up against Juggernauts as she faces Caitlin Clark, Sarah Franklin, and Izzy Scane. In all likelihood, Bryant will lose out to a few of the more popular names but, being on these ballots is an incredible honor.
Jayden Daniels - Best College Athlete in Men's Sports
As Jayden Daniels is the Heisman Trophy Winner, he has a great chance to take home the ESPY for Best College Athlete in Men's Sports. Daniels will face off against Zach Edey, Ousmane Sylla, and Pat Kavanagh. The College Football Player nominated for the award has won in 7 of the last 10 ESPY's giving Daniels a great chance to win the award.
Why go anywhere other than LSU?
Regardless of whether Jayden Daniels and Haleigh Bryant take home the awards or not this is another great showcase for the greatness of LSU Sports. No college has an athlete in both the Men's and Women's nominations while LSU has two and a nomination for Best Breakthrough athlete. This will show recruits in any sport that LSU can not only help you get to the highest level of the sport but, that the school can do it in any sport.
