Kyren Lacy doesn’t lead the team in receiving

Heading into the season, if you ask any LSU Football fan who will lead the team in receiving, the answer is likely Kyren Lacy. There's a reason that Lacy is the answer as he flashed as the third wide receiver behind Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. Lacy has also had a dominant off-season and continues to look like one of the Nation's top wide receivers.

It's also easy to see a world where Kyren Lacy doesn't lead the team in receiving even at the wide receiver position. If it's not Kyren Lacy, the best answer would be incoming Liberty transfer CJ Daniels. At Liberty, Daniels had a massive season last year catching 55 passes for 1,067 yards and 10 touchdowns averaging 19.4 yards per catch. As a deep threat, Daniels will be paired with a quarterback in Garrett Nussmeier who has a massive arm and the attention Lacy gets could lead to Daniels having a bigger season.

Then you look at Mason Taylor as well as the rest of the tight end room and they all have an outside chance at leading this team in receiving. In 2023, Taylor had a down season catching 36 passes for 348 yards and a touchdown. Those numbers wouldn't be enough to lead the team in receiving but, when Garrett Nussmeier was quarterback in the Reliaquest bowl, he caught 7 passes for 88 yards.

The two camp standouts Ka'Morreun Pimpton and Trey'Dez Green will look to cut into the target share and put up massive seasons of their own. The duo provides a ton of size and explosiveness and with Green's athleticism, it wouldn't be a shock if he immediately became a chess piece for Joe Sloan.
