While the LSU Football team lost and it feels like the world is burning, everything in that game wasn't doom and gloom. The defense showed obvious signs of improvement and as the season goes along, we'll see the group become a complete unit. The offense has a clear top receiver in Kyren Lacy and if LSU can just gameplan to get him the ball more often the Tigers will reach that next level. Even Garrett Nussmeier showed a ton of promise and we'd love to see the team push for the win rather than playing conservative so Nussmeier can shine.

Overall in a loss, we'll always nitpick what went wrong, but there were a few guys who had solid performances that shouldn't be forgotten.

Sai'Vion Jones - Edge Rusher

When LSU hired Kevin Peoples to coach the defensive ends and edge rushers, it was a massive hire as the edge room needed development. If game one is any indication of what we may see from Sai'Vion Jones this season then the Tigers may have a monster on their hands. Jones was constantly pressuirng Miller Moss finishing the game with LSU's only two sacks. Jones finished the game with five tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble, and a pass breakup as one of the few bright spots on the team.

Ashton Stamps - Cornerback

This offseason it became clear that Ashton Stamps had put in all of the work necessary to take the jump to starting cornerback for LSU. His game will be remembered differently for the touchdown caught over him in the fourth quarter but, Miller Moss may not have thrown that ball if Major Burns didn't jump offsides. Stamps was a man-possessed in the third quarter coming within inches of a pick-six and deflecting a few other passes. The most impressive play of the night from Stamps was when he got beat but, never stopped competing and broke up a pass in the endzone saving LSU four points.

Aaron Anderson - Wide Receiver

Heading into the game we were all planning on seeing a heavy dosage of Chris Hilton Jr, when he was ruled out we were all expecting a ton of Kyle Parker. On the LSU Football team's first drive of the game, Parker went down with an injury which led us to Aaron Anderson getting a massive role in this game.

In the second half of the game, Anderson was making the biggest plays for the LSU Football team and should see his role increased in the weeks to come. Anderson's touchdown late in the third quarter gave the Tigers a 17-13 lead. When LSU needed a score late in the fourth quarter, Anderson's 41-yard catch set the Tigers up to kick a field goal while with a better pass, he may have scored a touchdown. After catching five passes for 64 yards and a touchdown in Week One we should see a heavier dosage of Anderson.

We should see a heavier dosage of the younger guys

In the weeks to come with a softer landing spot for this LSU Football team, we should see increased workloads for the players LSU is bringing along. PJ Woodland is going to be a big piece of this team for years to come and at this point, the Tigers should get him as many reps as possible as he may be better than Sage Ryan. We didn't see much of Trey'Dez Green but, as the LSU football team looks for difference-makers he should get an extended look. Even at safety Jardin Gilbert didn't play badly but he made some mistakes and DaShawn Spears is as ready as they come as a true freshman and the Tigers could certainly use his ball hawking ability.
