The season is still very young but, there has been one massive positive for the LSU Football team through two games. All offseason, one of the biggest reasons why everyone thought LSU would take a step down was because of the quarterback position. The LSU Football team had to transition to a first time quarterback from a Heisman winner

Part of the reason people didn't believe Garrett Nussmeier would get the job done is because of the returning players at wide receiver. Kyren Lacy has gone from a player the fan base got mad at for dropping passes to Mr. Reliable looking like a potential first round pick.

Transfer wide receiver Zavion Thomas has been a great addition as well for the Tigers chipping in while the Tigers are without Chris Hilton Jr. The biggest area where Zavion Thomas has been an asset is at returner where LSU has struggled for a few years but, Thomas has turned it into a positive.

Brian Kelly made note of these players and how well they're doing in Conference and Nationally.

The Tigers have practically played only one real opponent but, as we progress this season it'll be interesting to track where these players are in the rankings. It does also hurt however as if you told anyone that Garrett Nussmeier and Kyren Lacy would lead the country in touchdowns before the season, we all would've guessed we were 2-0.

The trio will need a big performance this weekend

Brian Kelly went on the Paul Finebaum Show on Monday where he mentioned that Nussmeier is on track to throw 45-50 touchdowns this season and that the team may need every one of them. This weekend, the Tigers will face a very underrated defense when they take on South Carolina. Nussmeier and Lacy will need to connect early and often to win this game while a Zavion Thomas return could be the big play that wins LSU this game.
