The LSU Football team has one of the Nation's top recruiting classes but, if it wants to finish in the top five there is still plenty of work to be done. The Tigers brought in one commitment this summer with La Jesse Harrold but, ended up even after losing Jaboree Antoine. Here are the important dates to follow for potential commitments for the LSU Football team.

July 4th - Zion Williams - Defensive Tackle

This off-season was all about filling needs on the defensive line as the LSU Football team searched the transfer portal for defensive tackles landing Jay'Viar Suggs. Thus far Bo Davis' connections in Texas have been a massive recruiting tool for LSU and they have been in this recruiting cycle. The LSU Football team is the apparent leader for four-star defensive tackle Zion Williams out of Lufkin, Texas. The On3 industry ranking ranks Zion Williams as the 31st-ranked defensive tackle in the class and the 366th-best player in the country.

July 5th - Damien Shanklin - Edge Rusher

The LSU Football team will look to add another top-100 recruit to its recruiting class which ranks third in the Nation when edge rusher Damien Shanklin announces his commitment. Prior to Shanklin's visit to Baton Rouge, Notre Dame looked like the heavy favorite to keep Shanklin in-state but, he'll now pick between LSU, Alabama, and Ohio State. The Tigers are in a great position to Shanklin and he'd be a massive pickup as the Nation's 86th-ranked player.

July 13th - Jhase Thomas - Safety

In July, in-state star Jhase Thomas will also announce his commitment on his birthday July 13th. The in-state safety is ranked as the 29th-best athlete in the class and the 20th-best player in Louisiana according to On3. Thomas is the son of former New Orleans Saint Fred Thomas who spent 12 seasons in the NFL. Brian Kelly and his staff have dominated in-state recruiting and after jumping into this race late, they're in a great position to add Jhase Thomas which is much needed as LSU needs commitments in the secondary.

The LSU Tigers will also be watching CJ Jimcoily, Derek Meadows, and 2026 linebacker JaMichael Garrett. Jimcoily is the most pressing need as LSU currently holds no commitments from players in the secondary. Meadows is one of the top wide receivers in the class whom LSU is in the mix for but, Alabama and Notre Dame appear to be the front runners in the race. The Tigers are in the mix for the four-star linebacker in the 2026 recruiting class JaMichael Garrett but, he's a long way from his National Signing Day.
