Urban Meyer shares an incredible story from a visit to Death Valley to face LSU
This weekend for LSU's first home game of the season, it'll mark the 100th season of Tiger Stadium. The building is a staple of College Football as the stage for so many great games, great players, and the place that's given everyone great memories.
For opponents, visiting Tiger Stadium isn't always as enjoyable with the best fanbase in College Football and some of the best fans. On his podcast the Triple Option with Mark Ingram and Rob Stone, Urban Meyer shared an incredible story from his visit to Death Valley with his Florida Gators in 2007.
Meyer recalls getting off the bus and getting an incredible reaction out of a woman using a walker and a fan throwing what Urban Meyer indicates wasn't a warm beer in his face.
The game was incredible after the 2006 games practically decided the National Championship with Florida finishing 1st and LSU finishing 3rd. College Gameday came to town and the game was absolutley mayhem.
The Tigers ran a fake field goal with Matt Flynn in the second half leading to a Keiland Williams touchdown. On the Tigers final drive, LSU converted fourth down after fourth down driving down the field for a Jacob Hester touchdown. The win gave LSU a massive boost and the Tigers would go on to hoist the Coaches Trophy knocking off Ohio State in the National Title game.
Tiger Stadium will be electric on Saturday Night
There's nothing tougher for an opponent in College Football than traveling to Death Valley on a saturday night. This game against Nicholls State isn't the biggest of games but, given the celebration of Tiger Stadium, the atmosphere will be incredible. The LSU Football team will look to give the Tigers' faithful a stress free Saturday Night which would be great for all parties involved.
