What LSU football fans did not get for Christmas

It’s Christmas Day and unfortunately, Santa forgot to put some things under the trees in LSU football fans’ homes. From new coaches to Notre Dame fan deterrent, we’re looking over the Death Valley Voice christmas wishlist.

Cajun Christmas includes a lot of lights, seafood, and adult beverages. It’s also the time of year for gift giving and receiving. We see a lot of LSU football fans were blessed with new purple and gold swag this morning. We’re also considering how blessed we are to have another Heisman Trophy on display in Baton Rouge.

However, Santa forgot a few items on our Christmas wish list. Forgive us for taking some time to complain about we didn’t receive from the North Pole this holiday season.

1. We asked for a New Year’s Six bowl game

We wanted the 2023 LSU football team to play a bowl game on or around New Year’s Day. However, the Reliaquest Bowl is not what we meant.

The LSU Tigers are slated to play the Wisconsin Badgers at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on January 1st. We will enjoy watching the Bayou Bengals play another game before the long offseason, but it’s difficult to get invested in another meaningless bowl game.

Many preseason predictions did not include a College Football Playoff trip for LSU football, but most pundits expected progress in Brian Kelly’s second season in charge. As such, the first thing on our Christmas wish list was a New Year’s Six bowl game. A Peach Bowl appearance against No. 10 Penn State would be ideal. Unfortunately, that spot belongs to No. 11 Ole Miss.

It’s not fair to blame Santa on this one. As we know, St. Nick wasn’t on the field for LSU football’s disappointing loss to the Rebels back in late-September. If that game had turned out different, Tiger fans would be filling Mercedes-Benz Stadium on December 30th.

That leads us to the next thing on our list that Santa forgot, a coaching change.
