Where NFL Mock Drafts have LSU Tigers being drafted: The rise of Garrett Nussmeier?
The LSU Tigers are through five weeks, and thus far the offense has had a productive yera which is good for several players' draft stock. Heading into the year, everyone projected that Will Campbell, Harold Perkins, and Emery Jones Jr would be first round picks. The defensive struggles paired with Perkins' injury hasn't helped any of the defensive players stock. The offense has been explosive however which has helped the offensive tackles and a few others.
Yahoo Sports released their first mock draft of the season and several LSU Tigers landed in their first round projection.
The thing that Will Campbell will be rooting for the most as should LSU fans is that a team that doesn't need a quarterback ends up with the worst record. Here the Jacksonville Jaguars land the first overall pick and since they just paid Trevor Lawrence a ton of money, they protect their investment. The Jaguars landing Will Campbell would reunite him with Brian Thomas Jr while bolstering up a struggling offensive line.
The best thing for Garrett Nussmeier's draft stock aside from his play has been the awful quarterback play in the NFL. Thus far, Garrett Nussmeier has looked like a veteran quarterback operating LSU's offense with poise. As Nussmeier continues to play efficient football he's going to continue to see his name rise up the draft boards. If Nussmeier lands in New York he'd land with an incredible offensive mind in Brian Daboll and he'd be reunited with Malik Nabers.
The Chicago Bears desperately need to draft offensive linemen as Caleb Williams is spending every game running for his life. Here, Emery Jones Jr benefits from an early run on offensive tackles and lands in the top 15 picks of the draft. The fit would be perfect as Emery Jones Jr would come right into the league as a starting right tackle for a young team on the rise.
Ever since Harold Perkins' freshman season, he hasn't had the career he would've hoped for and that many would have expected. Despite all of that including a torn ACL this season, Perkins still has a great chance to be a first-round pick in this years' draft. Harold Perkins has all of the traits that a team would fall in love with and if he's able to recover for the combine and pro day he could be a .first-rounder Here, a defensive-minded Head Coach in Todd Bowles falls in love with Perkins and drafts him as the heir to Lavonte David.
A Few LSU Tigers could play their way into first round status
As things currently stand, most NFL Mock drafts have the LSU Tigers sending three or four players into the first round of the NFL draft but, with strong finishes to the season that number could easily jump. Bradyn Swinson is a player who stands out as he's been a game wrecker through five games this season. Mason Taylor has been nothing but consistent, but, if he can put up a massive season with his blocking ability he could sneak into the end of the NFL Draft. If Garrett Dellinger is able to continue his dominance at guard he could be the first guard drafted. Finally, if Kyren Lacy can pick up his pace while cutting down on drops, he has first round talent.
