While Malik Nabers has been impressive, the Giants have a glaring need at quarterback
On a night where Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, Gerrit Cole, and the New York Yankees clinched the American League East, the biggest star in New York was LSU star Malik Nabers. After scoring a pair of touchdowns last weekend, everyone wondered what Malik had in store on Thursday Night.
The Cowboys went down and scored on the opening drive but, Malik Nabers had a massive play in line for the New York Giants. Nabers made Andrew Booth touch grass on an incredible double move leading to a 39-yard gain.
The issue was that Malik Nabers had to turn around and wait for the ball to be delivered from Daniel Jones otherwise, Nabers had reservations for six.
It was overall a massive night for Malik Nabers as he caught twelve passes for 115 yards in a losing effort. The issue for the Giants was that they couldn't ever complete the massive play settling for five field goals while losing 20-15.
On deep balls this season, Daniel Jones has struggled mightily with one of his two completions coming when Nabers ripped the ball out of a Browns cornerbacks hands.
At times as well, Jones' placement on passes was off leading to some rough hits on Malik Nabers partially as Jones is seeing open receivers too late. Malik Nabers left this game with an incredibly scary concussion in part because of Jones missing an open Devin Singletary while its hard to knock Daniel Jones' decision to go to his star wide receiver.
When paired with a good quarterback, Nabers will shine
Early on in his career, Malik Nabers is already looking like one of the rarest of rare at the wide receiver position. The only thing that is slowing Nabers right now is his quarterback and the lack of talent around him. When the Giants are able to land a better quarterback and a receiving threat opposite of him, he won't get as much attention from opposing defenses and he'll get the ball on time. Who knows maybe we see Kyren Lacy and Garrett Nussmeier in New York next season.
