Power Ranking the SEC as Texas A&M gets stunned while Georgia takes a scare
The Tide didn't play this weekend as they prepare for a make-or-break game against LSU on the road with College Gameday in attendance next weekend. The Tide with two conference losses likely have no chance at making it to Atlanta so they'll need to win out to give themselves the chance at making the Playoff. A win gets Alabama back into the race for the Playoff while a loss sets Kalen DeBoer up for a long offseason of uncomfortable talks.
It wasn't pretty but, Tennessee handled their business on Saturday Night beating Kentucky. The way that Tennessee is winning games is what gives this team a chance to win the SEC and a chance to be a serious threat in the playoff. The defense stifled Kentucky's offense while Dylan Sampson ran rampant rushing for 142 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Volunteers only have one massive test left against Georgia and given how Carson Beck has looked, no one would be surprised if the Vols won that game.
This weekend was a great weekend for the Texas Longhorns while they were on a bye week. Their in-state rivals the Texas A&M Aggies got demolished knocking them out of first place in the SEC. The Longhorns were banged up on both sides of the football and the bye week couldn't have come at a better time. The next three weeks Texas gets to face Florida and its third string quarterback, Arkansas, and Kentucky before a big game against Texas A&M.
While Georgia remains the best team in the SEC, they were far from perfect on Saturday in their win over Florida. The biggest question of the weekend may be what would've happened if DJ Lagway didn't get injured as he was giving Georgia's defense a ton of problems. The Bulldogs have a massive issue on their hands as Carson Beck has gone from a Heisman contender to a turnover prone quarterback. Over the last five games, Beck has thrown 11 interceptions and while it didn't hurt them against Florida it can hurt them in the future.
