Power Ranking the SEC heading into Week 8 of the College Football Season
This weekend was a massive victory for Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers as they picked up a resume building win as the Tigers look to return to the College Football Playoff. The next game on the schedule is the Arkansas Razorbacks which is far from an easy game for LSU. The biggest reason to feel positive about the Tigers is the fact that LSU's defense looks much improved under Blake Baker and has gotten better each week.
Kalen DeBoer beat Kirby Smart in their first matchup and everything seemed like the Tide were good as usual but, over the past two weeks the fanbase is souring on Kalen DeBoer. If South Carolina was able to execute they would've knocked off Alabama as the Gamecocks outplayed the Tide for most of the game. This weekend is the next big test for DeBoer taking on Tennessee and with a loss things could get awkward for DeBoer.
If the last few weeks have shown us anything it's that the first half Georgia played against Alabama was a fluke and if that game were played 100 times that would be the worst possible outcome. This weekend Georgia gets a chance to prove that as they take on Texas in a massive matchup for the race for the SEC Championship. The Bulldogs are still banged up and will miss a few key pieces this weekend but, a win this weekend would keep them alive for a trip to Atlanta.
There really hasn't been a point this season where the Texas Longhorns have struggled and that includes a stretch where Texas was without starting Quarterback Quinn Ewers. This week could provide that struggle when the Longhorns take on Georgia but, Texas should win this game. The Longhorns have a hoard of weapons on offense and their pass rush has pressured everyone.
