The transfer portal has become an effective way for college football coaches to fill gaps in their rosters immediately. However, growing a program through high school recruiting is still a major part of the sport. LSU currently has the No. 12 recruiting class in the country for 2026 according to 247Sports. Brian Kelly has never had a recruiting class outside the top-10 during his time at LSU.
Looking ahead to 2027, LSU is hoping to land one of the most dynamic athletes in the class. Things appear to be going well for Brian Kelly and his staff, as Rivals National Recruiting Analyst Sam Spiegelman has logged an expert prediction for LSU to land 4-star WR Braylon Calais and add him to the Tigers' 2027 recruiting class.

Landing Calais would be a big get for LSU. Hailing from Cecilia High School in Carencro, LA, Calais is rated by 247Sports as the No. 5 recruit in Louisiana and No. 47 in the country. He doesn't have a position designation on 247Sports, but Rivals has him listed as a wide receiver. The 6'2", 195-pound athlete has also spent time at running back and in the secondary in high school. He also plays basketball and competes in track and field.
LSU offered Calais back on May 15. He also has offers from Arkansas, Miami (FL), Texas A&M, and USC, among others.
As it stands, LSU has just one player commitment for the 2027 class. It comes from 4-star QB Peyton Houston, who chose LSU over the likes of Oklahoma, Michigan, Notre Dame, USC, Tennessee, and Ole Miss. Houston is rated by 247Sports Composite as the No. 11 QB in the 2027 class.
