Week 2 yielded some interesting results in the SEC. Some teams struggled against lesser opponents but still came away with victories, while the Florida Gators suffered a devastating upset to South Florida. It just goes to show that teams can never take a week off, and upsets can happen at any given moment.

The biggest wins in for the SEC in Week 2 came from the Oklahoma Sooners and Mississippi State Bulldogs. Oklahoma defeated the Michigan Wolverines in a top-25 showdown in Norman, and Jeff Lebby's Bulldogs took down No. 12 Arizona State in Starkville. The first SEC conference game also took place, as the Ole Miss Rebels beat the Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington.

With four SEC conference matchups in store for Week 3, let's take a look at where each team stacks up in this week's SEC power rankings.

SEC power rankings after Week 2

16. Kentucky Wildcats (30-23 loss vs No. 20 Ole Miss)

Kentucky was hoping to pull another upset over Ole Miss after defeating the Rebels 20-17 in Oxford last season. However, the Wildcats couldn't get it done and fell to Lane Kiffin's squad 30-23 on Saturday. Kentucky played well in the first half, but couldn't hold on. The Wildcats should beat Eastern Michigan this weekend, but through two weeks of play, Kentucky is at the bottom of the SEC power rankings.

15. Arkansas Razorbacks (56-14 win vs Arkansas State)

The Arkansas Razorbacks have won their first two games of the season by a combined score of 108-21. However, the wins have come against Alabama A&M and Arkansas State. Those are expected results, but the schedule really ticks up for Arkansas from here on out. The next four games for Sam Pittman and company include games at Ole Miss, at Memphis, vs Notre Dame, and at Tennessee.

14. Mississippi State Bulldogs (24-20 win vs No. 12 Arizona State)

Jeff Lebby picked up his fourth and biggest win in Starkville on Saturday as Mississippi State took down No. 12 Arizona State. It was a roller coaster of emotions for Bulldog fans, as Mississippi State bolted out to a 17-0 lead and took a 17-3 advantage into halftime. But the Sun Devils came storming back to take a 20-17 lead late in the fourth quarter. Then, a 58-yard touchdown pass from Blake Shapen to Brenan Thompson gave Davis Wade Stadium a memorable moment. It was a much-needed win for a starving MSU fan base, and with two winnable games vs Alcorn State and Northern Illinois over the next two weeks, the Bulldogs should be 4-0 heading into their SEC opener against Tennessee on Sept. 27.

13. Vanderbilt Commodores (44-20 win at Virginia Tech)

Trailing 20-10 at halftime, the Commodores exploded for a 34-0 domination in the second half en route to a 44-20 win over Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. It's the second straight year Vanderbilt has defeated Virginia Tech. The Commodores out-gained the Hokies 490-248, and went 5-for-7 on third down and 1-for-1 on fourth down. Vanderbilt heads to South Carolina this Saturday in what should be a great game to watch unfold.

12. Missouri Tigers (42-31 win vs Kansas)

The Border War between the Missouri Tigers and Kansas Jayhawks has returned. For the first time since 2011, the Tigers and Jayhawks met on the gridiron, and Missouri prevailed in a high-scoring affair by a score of 42-31. Beau Pribula was fantastic, completing 30 of his 39 pass attempts for 334 yards and three touchdowns. The Tiger defense leaves a lot to be desired so far in 2025, and Eli Drinkwitz will look to shore things up on the defensive side of the ball this Saturday against Louisiana before beginning SEC play on Sept. 20 against South Carolina.

11. Florida Gators (18-16 loss vs South Florida)

The Florida Gators were the biggest losers of the weekend in the SEC, as Billy Napier suffered another crushing blow. The South Florida Bulls went into The Swamp and defeated the Gators in an 18-16 slugfest. It wasn't pretty at any point for Florida, and now Napier is feeling the heat once again. To make matters worse, here are Florida's next four games: at No. 3 LSU, at No. 5 Miami (FL), vs No. 7 Texas, and at No. 16 Texas A&M. Yikes.

10. Texas A&M Aggies (44-22 win vs Utah State)

We will learn a lot about Texas A&M this weekend as the Aggies head to Notre Dame to take on the Irish. Mike Elko's squad has scored 42 and 44 points in their first two games, but have also allowed 24 points to UTSA and 22 points to Utah State. Starting quarterback Marcel Reed went down with an injury on Saturday against Utah State, and after not playing this past weekend, Notre Dame has had an extra week to prepare. If the Aggies come out of South Bend with a win, they will surely shoot up in the rankings.

9. Alabama Crimson Tide (73-0 win vs ULM)

It's safe to say the Crimson Tide took their frustrations out on the ULM Warhawks on Saturday. Even without WR Ryan Williams in action, the Alabama offense cruised to a massive win. Ty Simpson was a perfect 17-for-17 in the first half, throwing for 226 yards a trio of touchdowns. It's hard to take much from this game, as Alabama pulled a lot of their starters at halftime. Alabama hosts Wisconsin this weekend.

8. Ole Miss Rebels (30-23 win at Kentucky)

Ole Miss earned the first SEC win of the 2025 season, as the Rebels defeated Kentucky 30-23 in Lexington on Saturday. Despite the win, Lane Kiffin's squad has some concerns. Most notably, QB Austin Simmons looked uncomfortable and wasn't particularly effective, throwing for two interceptions and zero touchdowns. Ole Miss relied on the run game, as Kewan Lacy was the star of the show running for 138 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries. Consistency from Simmons will be key for Ole Miss if they want to move up in the rankings.

7. Oklahoma Sooners (24-13 win vs No. 15 Michigan)

The final score isn't necessarily indicative of how much Oklahoma out-played Michigan on Saturday night in Norman. Brent Venables' defense held Bryce Underwood to a measly 142 yards with a completion percentage of just 37.5. QB John Mateer threw for 270 yards and was also Oklahoma's leading rusher with 74 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. The early returns on the OC/QB combo of Mateer and Ben Arbuckle have the Sooners looking like a real contender.

6. Auburn Tigers (42-3 win vs Ball State)

The Auburn Tigers did what they were supposed to do against Ball State on Saturday, dismantling the Cardinals 42-3. Hugh Freeze's team didn't skip a beat after their massive Week 1 win over Baylor, and Jackson Arnold continues to impress. The Auburn at Oklahoma game in a couple weeks is looking like it will be a very intriguing matchup.

5. Tennessee Volunteers (72-17 win vs East Tennessee State)

The Tennessee offense is looking like one of the best units in the country. Through two weeks, the Volunteers have scored 117 points, which is the fourth-most in the country. Joey Aguilar is looking like a great fit for Josh Heupel's high-octane offensive scheme, but Aguilar and company will be put to the test this weekend against Georgia. But, Heupel has to be pleased with where his team is at heading into the SEC opener.

4. South Carolina Gamecocks (38-10 win vs South Carolina State)

Shane Beamer's South Carolina Gamecocks took care of business on Saturday defeating South Carolina State 38-10. LaNorris Sellers had a modest stat line, but he continues to show his elite athleticism. A prolonged weather delay could have had an impact on South Carolina's offensive rhythm, but they were able to get the job done. But generally speaking, the Gamecock offense needs to be better if they want to compete for an SEC title.

3. Texas Longhorns (38-7 win vs San Jose State)

Arch Manning recorded five total touchdowns in his second career start, which made Longhorn fans breathe a sigh of relief. Even against San Jose State, Texas fans have to be encouraged by Arch's performance. He looked much more poised and confident than he did last week against Ohio State. It helps Manning that Texas' defense looks to be elite, which keeps the Longhorns firmly near the top of the SEC power rankings this week.

2. Georgia Bulldogs (28-6 win vs Austin Peay)

The Georgia Bulldogs are 2-0 after beating Marshall and Austin Peay so far in 2025. They've handled business effectively, never leaving either game in doubt. Gunner Stockton didn't throw a touchdown pass against Austin Peay, and still looks like he is finding his way as the full-time starter. The Bulldog defense has been great, and will be put to the test against Tennessee this weekend.

1. LSU Tigers (23-7 win vs Louisiana Tech)

Despite a lackluster performance against Louisiana Tech this past Saturday, the LSU Tigers still claim the top spot in this week's SEC power rankings. The offense needs to figure things out before this Saturday's SEC opener against Florida, but the defense continues to impress and looks much-improved from last season. LSU still has the best win of any SEC team so far this season with its 17-10 victory at Clemson in Week 1. Despite Florida's loss to USF on Saturday, the Tigers can't afford to take the Gators lightly this week.
