Saturday night was supposed to be a memorable night in Death Valley. Perhaps it was still memorable - but for all the wrong reasons. After suffering two road losses to Ole Miss and Vanderbilt, the LSU Tigers were returning home to Death Valley to host No. 3 Texas A&M at night. It was an ideal bounce back spot for LSU, as the Tigers had a great opportunity to right the ship and keep their playoff hopes alive with a massive win over a top-5 opponent. It looked good for the first 30 minutes, as LSU took an 18-14 lead into halftime. But things quickly derailed in the 2nd half as Texas A&M rolled to a 49-25 win.

By late in the 3rd quarter, the LSU faithful had left Tiger Stadium in large numbers, which left Texas A&M fans outnumbering LSU fans. "The stands are emptying here," ABC color commentator Kirk Herbstreit said. Chris Fowler added, "They're booing, and there's also some chanting in here, as well."

The Aggie fans made themselves heard throughout their team's dominating 2nd half performance, and even began pitching a recruitment message to LSU's No. 1 commit.

Texas A&M fans work to flip 5-star LSU commit Lamar Brown

LSU's top-rated recruit in its 2026 class is defensive lineman Lamar Brown. A 5-star prospect from Baton Rouge, Brown chose LSU over Texas A&M when he committed to the Tigers on July 10. With A&M cruising to a win in Death Valley for the first time since joining the SEC, Aggie fans started chanting "We want Lamar" as Tiger fans headed for the exits.

That's not exactly the scene you want taking place in your own stadium. To make matters worse, LSU fans were pleading with Brown to stay committed to the Tigers as he walked off the field after the game.

It was a tough scene for Tiger fans on Saturday night, which has fans at a boiling point with Brian Kelly. In a game that was supposed to turn things around, LSU was thoroughly out-coached and out-played by Mike Elko and Texas A&M. Having top recruits and commits such as Brown leave the stadium feeling dejected is not what Kelly had in mind.

Brown is a local product hailing from University Lab in Baton Rouge. He is the No. 1-ranked player in the country according to 247Sports Composite. Brown has remained steadfast in his commitment to LSU, and even called out recruits flipping their commitments away from LSU earlier this summer.

As it stands, LSU currently has the 11th-ranked 2026 recruiting class according to 247Sports. The class has 16 commits that features a pair of 5-star prospects. Along with Brown, the other 5-star in the class is EDGE Trenton Henderson.
