The most highly anticipated game on LSU's schedule just got the TV slot that it deserves. Not that it came as much of a surprise to anyone.

New LSU head coach Lane Kiffin is set to face his former team, the Ole Miss Rebels, at 6:30 p.m. CT on Sept. 19 in Oxford, Mississippi. It will be one of, if not the hottest, games played in college football during that week. Only Auburn vs. Florida stands out in Week 3 outside of this game, but unless Ole Miss somehow manages to completely tarnish itself on a cupcake schedule, this should be a contest between two undefeated teams with a lot of bad blood.

There's no excuse for both teams to come into the matchup anything other than undefeated, especially for Ole Miss. The Rebels face Louisville and Charlotte directly before, both teams the Rebels should roll over as they prepare for a toucher schedule.

LSU does not face quite as easy of a schedule before the Tigers arrive at Ole Miss. In fact, they are expected to have ESPN's College GameDay on the campus right out of the gate as they face the visiting Clemson Tigers in the battle for who has the real "Death Valley."

While LSU is still expected to win that game, it is definitely high-level competition compared to the opponents many powerhouse teams face in their first game of the season. Right before going up against the Rebels, the Tigers will have what should be an easy game against LA Tech in Tiger Stadium.

LSU facing Ole Miss in primetime should be pure mayhem

Seeing this game as anything other than one that should be played in a hostile evening environment is delusional. Between the way Kiffin departed from the program (which the perception of that is still very much up for debate) and the controversial comments he made in his interview with Vanity Fair, there is no question there is going to be a lot of animosity on the Ole Miss side.

To even imagine a game like this having a noon or an early kickoff seems comical.

There were plenty of fans in the comments who had things to say and to insinuate after the kickoff time was presented publicly. That included this one, which appears to show Kiffin in a protected structure, surrounded by LSU players on the sideline.

Anyone who has the slightest familiarity with college football should understand the reference here -- Kiffin has been met by plenty of hatred from his former teams in the past when he plays them. Some of the most recent vitriol he was met with came from Tennessee fans, who hurled mustard bottles and things of the like at him in Neyland Stadium.

There's a chance that he might be met with even more hatred from the Rebels this time around. While Kiffin seemed to argue that he wanted to coach Ole Miss through the playoffs in what could have been a national title game run for the Rebels when he departed for LSU, a lot of details never became fully clear.

Some fans still view that as the ultimate betrayal -- whether logical to do so or not -- and that will surely be reflected in the atmosphere of The Grove.
