We are living in a simluation! The evidence is out there more so than you would think. For those still in denial, please turn your undivided attention to what all is going on with the Magnolia Bowl rivals. It has been months since former Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin left Oxford to take over at LSU in the midst of a playoff run. With school starting to wind down, you will never guess who is Oxford bound...
Yes, Brian Kelly's son Patrick Kelly will be taking on a role as part of the Ole Miss support staff this fall.

Kelly had been part of his father's staff at LSU after graduating from Grand Valley State since 2022. While he gets to go be his own man now on Pete Golding's first true staff at Ole Miss, this could potentially add another wrinkle into this underrated rivalry over in SEC country. Ole Miss despises Mississippi State more than anything, while LSU has several other rivals across the SEC to deal with.
For now, let's just lean into the awkwardness of it all when it comes to Kelly going to work for Golding.

Let's be honest with ourselves. People, players, and coaches come and go all the time in this wacky, weird, and wonderful sport we all enjoy way too much. Kiffin will now be battling one of his greatest proteges annually in Golding, as the Magnolia Bowl is one of each school's three annual opponents in a new nine-game SEC slate. Trinidad Chambliss is still going to be playing for Ole Miss, but not Kiffin...
Perceived bad blood or not, these are just the latest examples of how SEC football always has been, and always will be different. College football is as much of a religion as being Catholic or growing up Southern Baptist. LSU and Ole Miss might only play each other once a season, but these are two schools vying for the same thing. Can the Tigers and the Rebels make the playoff out of the SEC?
Right now, Ole Miss might have the upper hand. The Rebels made it a year ago, winning two games with their recently promoted head coach. LSU may have had the greatest team in playoff history, but 2019 feels like a lifetime ago... To be quite frank, whoever wins this year's Magnolia Bowl between LSU and Ole Miss stands as good of a chance as ever to be one of four or so SEC teams to make the field.
For Kelly's sake, he can only hope that his time in Oxford goes better than his tenure in Baton Rouge...
