There's a saying as old as time, big time players make big time plays in big time games and that is what LSU had on Saturday Night. The Tigers played their best game of the year on defense allowing the offense to overcome its early struggles. LSU had a few standout performances which were acknowledged by the SEC as they handed out their weekly awards.

While it was possibly Garrett Nussmeier's worst game of the season, he showed a ton in LSU's win over Ole Miss. The quarterback despite his struggles never shied away from throwing the ball deep and led the Tigers on two gutsy drives to tie and win the game. Nussmeier finished the game 22 of 51 passing for 337 yards with 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions adding another 16 yards with his legs earning him the SEC's Offensive Player of the Week Award.

Everywhere you looked on Saturday Night, Whit Weeks was there as he had a phenomenal game. Weeks has been LSU's best linebacker all season and he turned his best performance on Saturday night recording 18 tackles ten of which were solo tackles and he recorded a sack to force overtime. For his outstanding game this Weekend, Whit Weeks was named the SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week Award.

One of the reasons for Ole Miss' struggles on offense saturday night was because the Rebels didn't have enough time to pick the secondary apart. The massive reason for that was the play of Bradyn Swinson who spent the entire game in the backfield sacking Jaxson Dart twice while drawing a few holding calls. For his performance, the SEC named Swinson the Defensive Lineman of the Week.
