One of the most exciting things for a College Football fanbase is when a true freshman starts making massive contributions as it gives you a great look into the future of the team. The LSU Football team is getting great performances out of most of its freshmen class as it seems like LSU is getting big performances from a new freshman every week.

Ever since Caden Durham started to get consistent playing time, the LSU run game has been fully transformed. South Carolina was slowing LSU's offense until Caden Durham started to get touches where he then exploded and in many ways won LSU the football game. As Durham has gotten more experience he's started to make plays in the receiving room. Through seven games, Durham leads the LSU football team with 382 yards rushing and 6 touchdowns adding 148 yards receiving with another 2 touchdowns.

LSU was set up nicely at tight end this season with one of the best tight ends in program history in Mason Taylor returning as the starter. Given that LSU had Taylor returning and a solid backup in Ka'Mourreun Pimpton, it was hard to get Trey'Dez Green onto the field every game. The Tigers have found a nice spot for Green at wide receiver where he's becoming a matchup nightmare. On the season, Green has caught four passes for 30 yards and two touchdowns while adding a two-point conversion.

The defensive line was a spot where LSU was going to need some freshmen to step up especially after the Tigers lost Jacobian Guillory for the season. Gabe Reliford has stepped up since the start of the season and has given LSU some solid reps recording eight tackles, a tackle for a loss, and half of a sack. Over the last few weeks, Dominick McKinley has started to gain reps and recorded a sack against UCLA. Ahmad Breaux has turned in some impressive games as well recording ten tackles, five of which have been solo tackles.

The last few weeks, Dahvon Keys has started to get some playing time at linebacker as West Weeks has taken a redshirt with his injuries. In his short playing time on the field, Keys has recorded five tackles, half of a sack, and a pass defense.

In the secondary, LSU has called on freshmen all season to help as LSU looks to rebuild its DBU status. PJ Woodland has given LSU some solid playing time at cornerback recording eleven tackles, two pass deflections, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. DaShawn Spears has been a player that LSU has counted on for key reps at Safety where he's recorded 17 tackles and a pass defense.

The Tigers have had a few other Freshmen that have given the team a nice contribution in limited playing time as well. Safety turned Running Back Ju'Juan Johnson has carried the ball 7 times for 14 yards but, as a receiving back he's caught five passes for 22 yards and a touchdown. Xavier Atkins has given the LSU Football team some solid plays at linebacker and could be a player the team turns to next season.

A glimpse into what the future may look like for LSU

While this season is incredibly exciting as the Tigers are finding their rhythm right before the biggest stretch of the year, you look at this team and its hard not to be excited for 2025. Next year, this freshman class will be a year older with a ton of game experience which you don't often see. Add in that Sophomores like Whit Weeks, Ashton Stamps, DJ Chester, Da'Shawn Womack, and others will all be returning with a ton of experience and this group could be incredible next season. The Tigers also hold the Nation's third ranked recruiting class which is filled with high end talent that should be ready to contribute year one.
