Last Week was far from a stellar week for the LSU Women's Basketball team as the regular season drew to a close. The week started with LSU dropping a game on the road in overtime to Alabama as the Tigers couldn't slow Aaliyah Nye. Sunday brought the news that Flau'Jae Johnson was out until the NCAA Tournament taking one of the Tigers stars out of the picture. Later on Sunday, LSU let a game slip away against Ole Miss as the Tigers couldn't stop turning the ball over.

Given that the Lady Tigers entered the week ranked 7th in the AP Poll, it was a given that the Lady Tigers would move down in the rankings. LSU has fallen two places moving from 7th to 9th as TCU and NC State jump the Lady Tigers.

NC State moving ahead of LSU is far and away the biggest surprise as the Tigers own a better record at 27-4 to NC State's 24-5 while LSU dominated NC State 82-65 before conference play began.

Normally, AP Poll rankings don't mean a ton in the big picture but, as of late the AP Poll has nearly mirrored the NCAA Tournament Committee's rankings. If the Committee has LSU ranked as the 9th best team as well that means LSU would've fallen from a two seed in the NCAA Tournament and are now in line for a three seed.

As Conference Tournaments get underway this week, the rankings will start to take their final form ahead of Selection Sunday. For the Lady Tigers, the double bye gives the team much needed time to get healthy but, it also gives LSU less chances to boost their resume. The Lady Tigers ultimatley can get back in line for a two seed with a strong showing in the SEC Tournament.
