The LSU women's basketball team is poised to make a massive statement on Thursday night. The 5th-ranked Tigers are set to take on the 4th-ranked Texas Longhorns on the road in Austin in what is a must-watch contest for all college basketball fans.
Lola Lampley adds to LSU’s growing list of McDonald’s All-Americans under Kim Mulkey
Both teams enter this top-5 matchup with overall records of 21-2, while Texas is 6-2 in SEC play and LSU is 7-2. LSU has already defeated Texas this season, as Kim Mulkey's squad ended Texas' undefeated season with a 70-65 victory at the PMAC back on January 11.
Despite having identical overall records, LSU having one more SEC win than Texas and having already beaten the Longhorns, oddsmakers aren't giving the Tigers much credit heading into Thursday night's matchup in Austin.

LSU enters top-5 matchup against Texas in unfamiliar territory
As of 11:15 a.m. CT on Thursday, February 5, the Tigers find themselves as 6.5-point underdogs against the Longhorns on FanDuel Sportsbook.
The spread is a little surprising to see, given the fact that LSU has already defeated Texas in a head-to-head matchup. Granted that meeting took place in Baton Rouge, but the Tigers have shown they can go on the road and beat a top-15 opponent. So far this season, LSU's best road win was over No. 13 Oklahoma on January 18 by a score of 91-72.
In addition to being 6.5-point underdogs, ESPN's Matchup Predictor gives LSU just a 37.1% chance to win Thursday's matchup against Texas. According to ESPN Analytics, this is the only game this season where LSU is not favored to win. That's not a lot of love for a team who is leading the country in points per game with 98.9. In addition, LSU boasts a whopping seven players averaging at least 10 points per game. That kind of scoring depth makes LSU extremely dangerous night-in and night-out.
With odds of +1300, the Tigers currently have the 5th-best odds to win the National Championship heading into their biggest road game of the season. But those odds can improve with an upset victory at the Moody Center. Tip-off is slated for 8:00 p.m. CT.
