The recruitment of Bryce Underwood is given a bizarre new wrinkle
This month has put LSU fans on eggshells as Michigan has put a full court press on keeping Bryce Underwood in-state ramping up their NIL efforts. Despite the heightened push by Michigan it hasn't appeared very successful as Michigan hasn't gotten Bryce Underwood on campus for a recruiting visit. This weekend, Underwood and his family were at LSU for the Alabama game and based on how it played out he's likely thinking he could play next year.
The Wolverines can't get Bryce Underwood to come to them, so it appears they're going to him with the latest hire to the Belleville coaching staff.
Connor Stalions who was outed from College Football after Michigan's massive sign stealing scandal last season is now on the Belleville coaching staff. The move doesn't make a ton of sense as he was already serving as the Interim Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator for a different school and the results weren't great.
The move may genuinely be Stalions looking to get another job in High School football but, given his persona and ego he likely thinks he can be the guy to land Bryce Underwood for Michigan. The move in all likelihood won't workout for Stalions or Michigan as we're less than a month away from Early Signing Day and Michigan hasn't made any apparent progress.
Bryce Underwood could be the best option for LSU in Year One
Its hard to envision LSU starting a true freshman quarterback but, that could be the case next season for the Tigers. The element of this offense that has been missing is the ability to run as LSU badly misses having a dual threat quarterback. Garrett Nussmeier has shown an inability to process and react to the coverage when pressured and after losing Will Campbell and Emery Jones to the draft it won't be much better. We'll see if Bryce Underwood signs with LSU and from there if he's able to impress enough to make this a conversation.
