This weekend LSU losing to Florida put the final nail in LSU's coffin as the Tigers playoff hopes are officially dead. As the College Football Playoff field expanded to 12 teams it wasn't unreasonable to think that the Tigers could be one of the 12 best teams in the country but, instead LSU won't finish in the Top 25 this season.
This is far and away the lowest LSU Football has been under Brian Kelly as the Tigers have lost three straight games in embarrassing fashion. The Tigers loss this weekend added a few embarrasing wrinkles that showed that things may be splintering behind the scenes.
Sage Ryan and Bradyn Swinson were suspended for the first quarter and Da'Shawn Womack was suspended and didn't travel with the team. Brian Kelly was seen chewing out Chris Hilton Jr calling him uncoachable before Kyren Lacy was seen screaming at Kelly. On the final defensive play, Whit Weeks revealed that the defense was running two different plays.
Given that LSU has now lost three games and truly doesn't have the Playoff to play for its easy to imagine that things could further splinter. Players will start thinking about what's next for them whether its the NFL Draft or the Transfer Portal.
Brian Kelly spoke on what he's looking for from his team after their third straight loss on the season.
"If you're not someone who continues to work to be better, then we don't have a place for you in the last couple weeks."Brian Kelly
The thing that should be the most motivating to the players is the fact that there are players all over the roster that would fight for playing time. If the veterans don't want to give it their all, there are freshmen that would gladly give it their all and LSU may be better for it.
The Tigers have to get off the mat this weekend
The LSU Football team is at the point right now where they just need to win a football game. The last time LSU won a game was a month ago on October 19th against Arkansas. As the team goes through such a tough stretch its disappointing for them as well but, winning the final two games of the regular season and the Bowl game would get momentum headed back in the right direction.
