There were only two SEC conference games on the schedule in Week 4, as Oklahoma defeated Auburn and Missouri took down South Carolina. But things are about to heat up in a major way. This week features several highly-anticipated matchups in the SEC including Alabama at Georgia and LSU at Ole Miss. With a massive slate on deck, here is how each team stacks up in the Week 5 SEC Power Rankings.
16. Arkansas Razorbacks (32-31 loss at Memphis)
The Arkansas Razorbacks now find themselves at the bottom of the SEC power rankings after a brutal loss to Memphis on Saturday. Sam Pittman's team turned the ball over three times, including a critical lost fumble at the Memphis 7-yard line late in the game. They were held to just three points in the second half and now find themselves with a 2-2 record and a daunting upcoming schedule. Arkansas' next three games come against ranked opponents: vs No. 22 Notre Dame, at No. 15 Tennessee, vs. No. 9 Texas A&M.
15. Kentucky Wildcats (Bye)
The Kentucky Wildcats had a bye this past weekend as they gear up to face South Carolina in Columbia this weekend. The Gamecocks are falling fast after back-to-back losses to Vanderbilt and Missouri, so Kentucky has a winnable game ahead of them. A road victory over the Gamecocks would do wonders for Mark Stoops.
14. Florida Gators (26-7 loss at No. 4 Miami FL)
Things continue to go from bad to worse for Billy Napier and the Florida Gators. After DJ Lagway was intercepted five time against LSU last week, the Gator offense managed just 141 yards of total offense against the Miami Hurricanes in Week 4. The defense kept them in it, but Miami was able to pull away late with 13 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. It gets even tougher from here, as Florida hosts No. 10 Texas after a bye this week and then heads to College Station to face No. 9 Texas A&M on Oct. 11.
13. South Carolina Gamecocks (29-20 loss vs No. 23 Missouri)
The South Carolina Gamecocks entered the 2025 season with a ton of hype, but that has quickly faded through four weeks. Shane Beamer's team got LaNorris Sellers back after he missed most of the Vanderbilt game last week, but the offense continued to struggle as Missouri. The defense wasn't great either, allowing the Tigers to run for a whopping 285 yards.
12. Mississippi State Bulldogs (38-10 win vs Northern Illinois)
Jeff Lebby has Mississippi State out to a 4-0 start after a perfect non-conference slate. The Bulldogs defeated Southern Miss, Alcorn State, and Northern Illinois, with their biggest non-conference win coming against then-No. 12 Arizona State in Week 2. Four wins can already be seen as a successful season, but the Bulldogs now have their sights set on a bowl appearance for the first time since 2022. MSU opens SEC play at No. 15 Tennessee on Saturday.
11. Auburn Tigers (24-17 loss at No. 11 Oklahoma)
The Auburn passing offense did them in on Saturday in a 24-17 loss to Oklahoma. Jackson Arnold threw for just 220 yards on 32 attempts, and the offensive line in front of him didn't do him any favors. Arnold was sacked nine times on the afternoon, which included getting sacked in the end zone for a safety in the final minutes of the game. The Tigers were also hosed by the officials, as a missed illegal substitution penalty led directly to an Oklahoma touchdown, which was ultimately the difference in the game. Auburn has a chance to bounce back with a road tilt at No. 9 Texas A&M on Saturday.
10. Missouri Tigers (29-20 win vs South Carolina)
The Missouri Tigers are rolling. Eli Drinkwitz has his team off to a 4-0 start, and with a home game against UMass this weekend, the Tigers should be 5-0 heading into a massive game against Alabama in Tuscaloosa on Oct. 11. The defense showed out against South Carolina, holding the Gamecocks to -9 rushing yards on the night. RB Ahmad Hardy is emerging as a breakout star, as the ULM transfer has at least 100 yards and a touchdown in all four games so far this season.
9. Vanderbilt Commodores (70-21 win vs Georgia State)
Vanderbilt was able to avenge last year's loss to Georgia State with a convincing 70-21 win on Saturday. The Commodores should be 5-0 heading into Tuscaloosa in a few weeks, which will make for an intirguing matchup once again. If Vandy keeps rolling in SEC play, they'll shoot up in the rankings.
8. Alabama Crimson Tide (Bye)
The Alabama Crimson Tide had a bye in Week 4. When the Tide were last on the field, they defeated Wisconsin 38-14. That win took a hit after Wisconsin fell to Minnesota on Saturday. But still, Kalen DeBoer's squad has looked much-improved since dropping the season opener at Florida State. If Alabama goes on the road to beat No. 5 Georgia on Saturday, it would help take some heat off of DeBoer.
7. Texas Longhorns (55-0 win vs Sam Houston)
The play of Arch Manning continues to be one of the main talking points of the 2025 college football season. Manning has looked lost at times, but he had his best game of the season in Week 4 against Sam Houston. Manning completed 18 of his 21 pass attempts for 309 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. He also ran for two touchdowns. It was a good sight to see for Texas fans, but until he performs against better teams, there are still going to be question marks around the Longhorns. They're on a bye week this week, and have a road tilt at Florida on the docket for Oct. 4.
6. Ole Miss Rebels (45-10 win vs Tulane)
In what was deemed as a trap game, Ole Miss dominated Tulane from start to finish. The Rebels were coming off a roller coaster win against Arkansas, and has a battle against LSU on deck. But Ole Miss didn't bend at all and rolled against the Green Wave. Trinidad Chambliss continues to shine, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him continue as the starter even with Austin Simmons healthy. This Saturday's matchup vs LSU is going to be a good one.
5. Tennessee Volunteers (56-24 win vs UAB)
The Tennessee offense continued to roll with a 56-point effort against UAB in Week 4. It was a solid bounce back performance for the Volunteers after their crushing overtime loss to Georgia in Week 3. The Vols hit the road for the first time this season on Saturday as they head to Starkville to face Mississippi State.
4. Oklahoma Sooners (24-17 win vs No. 22 Auburn)
The Oklahoma Sooners have quickly cemented themselves as one of the most dangerous teams in the SEC early on this season. The Sooners already have a pair of ranked wins over Michigan and Auburn, and John Mateer seems to get better every week. He is among the Heisman favorites entering Oklahoma's bye week this week. But it was the Sooner defense that stole the show against Auburn, collecting nine sacks and making life extremely difficult for Jackson Arnold in his return to Norman. Brent Venable's team faces Kent State on Oct. 4 before battling Texas in the Red River Shootout on Oct. 11.
3. Texas A&M Aggies (Bye)
The Texas A&M Aggies are still riding high after their 41-40 win over Notre Dame win Week 3. The defense leaves a lot to be desired after allowing 28.7 points per game over their first three games. But the offense has been great, and the Aggies have the luxury of playing their next three games at home against Auburn, Mississippi State, and Florida, all of which are winnable games for Mike Elko's squad.
2. LSU Tigers (56-10 win vs Southeastern Louisiana)
Brian Kelly's squad took care of business against Southeastern Louisiana with a 56-10 win. The offense was finally able to get into some sort of a rhythm, and the defense continued its spectacular season. The defense has its toughest test on deck, as the Ole Miss offense is rolling. It will also be a tough test for the offense, which still hasn't thrived against a non-FCS team this season. It doesn't help that OL DJ Chester has to sit out the first half because of a targeting call that occurred on a bizarre play against SELA.
1. Georgia Bulldogs (Bye)
The Georgia Bulldogs spent the week on a bye recovering from their overtime win at Tennessee in Knoxville. Gunner Stockton's performance was a great sight for Bulldog fans, but the defense has a lot to work on. The extra week of rest and preparation could come in handy when hosting Alabama in Week 5.
