A lot of attention is being paid to the happenings of the LSU Football program off the field. The search for Brian Kelly's replacement, Governor Jeff Landry's comments, and the breakup with athletic director Scott Woodward have the national spotlight on the chaos in Baton Rouge. Interim head coach Frank Wilson has a lot of noise to deal with as he takes over for Kelly for the rest of the 2025 season.
LSU fans excited for the Alabama game could be forced to miss it due to YouTube TV drama
As the Tigers prepare to battle No. 4 Alabama next weekend in Tuscaloosa, LSU fans are hopeful that star linebacker Whit Weeks is able to return to the field. The LSU defense has been torched in their last two games against Vanderbilt and Texas A&M, and getting Weeks back would provide a big boost to Blake Baker's defense. Here's the latest on Weeks' injury status for the Alabama game.
Whit Weeks injury update: LB trending in the right direction
Weeks has been sidelined for the past several weeks with an ankle injury. He initally suffered the injury against Ole Miss on Sept. 27. He was limited in the South Carolina game on Oct. 11, but played through it. Now it appears that Weeks is trending in the right direction to play against Alabama on Nov. 8. Wilson says that there's optimism that Weeks suiting up becomes a reality.
Weeks has missed LSU's last two contests against Vanderbilt and Texas A&M. Both games resulted in losses, and both saw LSU's defense provide little to no resistance against the Commodores and Aggies. Looking to avoid a fourth loss on the season, Tiger fans are hoping for a more spirited defensive effort against the Tide with Weeks back in the mix.
Weeks is the unquestioned leader of the Tiger defense, as serves as the "quarterback" of Blake Baker's defense. He finished second in the SEC with 125 tackles last season, and has racked up 29 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and a sack so far this season.
Weeks was visibly emotional on the sidelines against Texas A&M this past weekend, as he tried to fire his team up in the second half when they fell behind. It wasn't enough, as A&M rolled to a 49-25 victory with the Brian Kelly getting fired the next day. Kick-off between the Tigers and Tide is set for next Saturday, Nov. 8 at 6:30 p.m. CT in Tuscaloosa.
