The third-ranked LSU Tigers take on FCS Southeastern Louisiana in Week 4. Brian Kelly's squad has some issues to correct, but they should be able to take care of business in convincing fashion against the Lions. Oddsmakers have shifted the LSU spread in a major way, showing that oddsmakers and bettors alike are backing the Tigers to win big on Saturday night.
Looking ahead to Week 5, LSU has a massive game on deck. The Tigers head to Oxford next Saturday for a highly-anticipated matchup against the 13th-ranked Ole Miss Rebels. It will be the first SEC road game for LSU this season. Unlike the Tigers, the Rebels don't have a tune-up game in Week 4 prior to next week's matchup in Oxford.
LSU fans need to be locked in to Tulane vs Ole Miss
Ole Miss is set to host the Tulane Green Wave on Saturday afternoon at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Ole Miss has already had some tricky tests in 2025, picking up a conference road win at Kentucky in Week 2 and a home win over Arkansas in a back-and-forth contest last week. Tulane presents another challenge that the Rebels can't overlook. With kick-off between the Green Wave and Rebels slated for 2:30 p.m. CT, Tiger fans should be locked in to see how Lane Kiffiin's squad fares against another tough opponent before LSU vs SLU kicks off at 6:45 p.m. CT.
Led by head coach Jon Sumrall, Tulane is among the best teams in a non-power conference in the country. The Green Wave enter Week 4 with a 3-0 record with wins over Northwestern, South Alabama, and Duke. The Rebels opened as 13.5-point favorite, but that number has since shrunk to 11.5 points.
Sumrall has been widely discussed as one of the best rising head coaches in all of college football. His name has been rumored at several power schools in the last year, and Kiffin himself even expects Sumrall to be coaching in the SEC next season.
BYU transfer Jake Retzlaff is QB1 in New Orleans, and he's been a dynamic playmaker so far this season. He's totaled 522 yards with two touchdowns with no interceptions through the air, and has accumulated 288 yards and six touchdowns on the ground. He totaled four rushing scores last week against Duke.
The Ole Miss offense is rolling
Heading into Week 4, the Ole Miss offense is among the highest-scoring units in the country. Through three games, the Rebels are averaging 44.7 points per game. For comparison, LSU is averaging 20 points per game. Garrett Nussmeier has been playing through a torso injury, and Brian Kelly has said that the veteran QB can't shut it down until after the bye week - which comes following the Ole Miss game.
Ole Miss starting QB Austin Simmons is battling an ankle injury and appears unlikely to start against Tulane. Backup Trinidad Chambliss shined for the Rebels last week against Arkansas, totaling 353 passing yards, 62 rushing yards, and four total touchdowns. The Ole Miss offense didn't miss a beat with Chambliss at the helm, and it will be interesting to see how they fare against Tulane's defensive unit.
All in all, the Green Wave are more than capable of giving Ole Miss a run for their money. Ole Miss' performance against Tulane will tell LSU fans a lot about what to expect next week when the Tigers head to Oxford.
