While LSU was red hot on the recruiting trail when it comes to landing transfers things quickly became a blur for LSU. As soon as players were committing, LSU was announcing the signings except one player was never announced. LSU hadn't announced the signing of Destyn Hill which raised concerns as there's always a chance a player could flip. The Tigers fans no longer need to worry as Destyn Hill is officially an LSU Tiger.
Destyn Hill is a New Orleans Native who played his High School football at Edna Karr which has become a Wide Receiver pipeline for LSU with TaRon Francis as the latest signee for LSU. In 2023, Hill caught 6 passes for 87 yards but, he missed the 2024 season with a torn ACL. Hill was expected to be the Seminoles leading Wide Receiver before the injury, so LSU is taking a flyer on potential rather than proven production which is fine as the Tigers have already added Nic Anderson and Barion Brown.
In the Transfer Portal, LSU has constantly gone after transfers from Louisiana and when you pair that with the fact that he's at a position of need he instantly became a target for LSU committing to LSU in the middle of December.
Hill had LSU as one of his finalists in his initial recruitment where he was the 88th ranked player in the Country according to On3 and prior relationships are the name of the game in the transfer portal. The last highly rated Edna Karr receiver to start their career elsewhere before transferring to LSU was Aaron Anderson, thus far that has panned out perfectly for LSU.
All eyes will now be on how Hill recovered from his torn ACL and what type of impact he can make early on.
