This weekend was a massive moment for LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell as he now embarks on his NFL journey. At the 2025 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots selected Will Campbell with the 4th overall pick, making him the first offensive tackle in LSU history to be selected in the first round. While the night for LSU fans was all about Will Campbell having his moment, Campbell showed why he's such a great leader once again.

While LSU sent 7 players into the NFL at the draft this weekend, a part of the celebration was missing. This weekend, Kyren Lacy most likely would've heard his name called but, he tragically passed away last week at the age of 24.

While Kyren Lacy's family goes through an emotional time, Will Campbell made sure to honor his late teammate at the NFL Draft to make sure he achieved his dream of walking across the stage. Will Campbell wore a number 2 pin on his lapel to the NFL Draft to honor Lacy which is an incredible gesture.

During his post draft press conference, Will Campbell was asked about the pin and gave an emotional tribute to his former teammate.

"Yeah you see right there I got the number 2 pin on my lapel, Kyren is a special human being, I feel for his family they've been through a lot lately and you know he's got such a great family. He was not only a good football player but, he was such a good teammate, a good son, a good older brother, and just a good dude in general. It's just terrible everything that's happened. I'm sending many prayers to his family because he was going to get his name called this weekend and that's why I wanted to wear this pin to honor him even though his name won't be called he's going to walk across that stage."

For Will Campbell to take his moment and share it with Kyren Lacy is incredibly special and only speaks to the type of person he is. It's especially special and likely means a lot to Kyren Lacy's loved ones as he was laid to rest this weekend. Will Campbell wasn't the only LSU Tiger to honor Lacy this weekend as several of his former teammates attended his services and Sai'Vion Jones went to his funeral wearing a shirt to honor Lacy when he was drafted.
