Lane Kiffin and LSU remain steadfast in their pursuit to land 5-star wide receiver Easton Royal. Kiffin and company suffered a tough recruiting loss when Royal committed to the Texas Longhorns back in November, but that hasn't stopped Kiffin from working to flip Royal to LSU.
Strong early showing by Gavin Guidry boosts LSU’s season outlook in 2026
The Tigers got some good news last week when Royal locked in an official visit to LSU for May 28-30. The good news continued this week when Royal worked out with Tiger sophomore running back Harlem Berry and incoming wide receiver Jabari Mack.

LSU youngsters helping recruit 5-star WR Easton Royal
Royal, Berry, and Mack are all Louisiana products, with Royal and Berry hailing from New Orleans and Mack hailing from Destrehan. Kiffin has made it clear that in-state high school recruits are a top priority for LSU's roster construction, and now current Tigers are helping in that effort.
Owning a 5'11" 190-pound frame, Royal plays for Brother Martin High School in New Orleans. He is regarded as one of the most talented receivers in the 2027 recruiting class, and would be a monster get for Kiffin as he continues to build LSU's 2027 class. The 5-star prospect is ranked as the No. 1 player in Louisiana and No. 3 wide receiver in the country by the 247Sports Composite.
Kiffin check in with Royal back in January, a move that kick-started Kiffin's pursuit of the elite pass-catcher. Royal's verbal commitment to Texas came one day before Kiffin was hired at LSU, and Kiffin's early moves in Baton Rouge give a very different vibe around the LSU Football program than there was back on November 29.
Royal finished his junior season with 53 catches for 1,151 yards and 17 touchdowns. Tiger fans are hoping that his official visit to LSU in late May leaves a lasting impression and leads to a flip from the Longhorns to the Tigers.
