LSU baseball: rain delays season opener against Air Force
By Crissy Froyd
LSU baseball season was set to begin on Feb. 17, but the Baton Rouge weather clearly had other plans.
The Air Force and the Tigers were set to square off at 7 p.m. on Friday in Alex Box Stadium, but the first pitch was delayed due to rain storms.
The contest was ultimately cancelled when the heavy rains persisted, with the official announcement to call off the game entirely coming in at 6:57 p.m.
In order to reschedule the opener, LSU will have to talk with the three affected teams: Army, Tulane and Air Force about the next game. We can expect an official verdict on the decision for the upcoming schedule some time later on Friday.

Before the game was rained out, the original plan was for the Tigers to take on the Air Force on Friday and Sunday, while Tulane played Army, then play Army on Saturday when Tulane would go head-to-head with Air Force.
Army and the Air Force were able to kick their seasons off earlier on Friday at noon. The Black Knights fell to the Falcons in a 8-7 loss following a 3-run eighth inning. The game was close until the very end, but the Army just couldn’t quite pull it off, scoring at the top of the final inning.
The Tigers will hope to top the Army’s performance when their time to play the Air Force comes once this schedule dilemma is finally solved – hopefully sooner rather than later.
