Head coach Ed Orgeron has brought about a great deal of change within the LSU football program, with one of the latest being the hire of Mickey Joseph.

Initially, Orgeron’s change was met with a bit of resistance, but has since been well received  in the New Orleans area – one of the most vital recruiting pipelines the nation has to offer to the LSU Tigers.

Former Nebraska Cornhuskers quarterback Joseph began his football career at Archbishop Shaw (La.) located in Marrero, La., and still goes down as one of the state’s biggest recruitments of all time.

Back in his home state, Joseph is now faced with the task of replacing assistant Frank Wilson and Jabbar Juluke.  One of his biggest responsibilities will be ensuring New Orleans high school football talent remains interested in playing for the largest football program in their current state of residence.

And so far, it appears he has done a pretty good job gaining the respect of prominent coaches in the area.

“Coach O did a good job getting Mickey,” John Ehret (La.) High School coach Corey Lambert said in an interview with SEC Country.

“The roots are there. He brings the roots back to the metro and New Orleans area. He was one of the top-5 quarterbacks to ever play the game in this area, and LSU did a great job bringing him along.”
