Former LSU football quarterback Brandon Harris did what many talented Louisiana high school athletes do by choosing to be a Tiger.

Harris started a total of 15 games over the course of three seasons at LSU.  But things obviously did not go as planned for the struggling quarterback, as he recently elected to leave Baton Rouge in hopes of finding a better career opportunity.

This time, he’s learned a valuable lesson and will take it into consideration moving forward.

“I know what to expect and what questions to ask because I’ve dealt with it before,” Harris said to FOX Sports on Monday night. “I know what I’m getting myself into.”

He explained the he’d be looking very carefully at how each program he’s looking into uses their quarterbacks to determine how good of a fit he would be there, as well as how well they develop players at the position in general.

Harris is currently set to graduate from LSU this June, and has been granted a full release from head coach Ed Orgeron to transfer to any football program in the country he wishes to.

Among the schools he is visiting is UNC, which he’ll be going to see in person on March 23. While he is also going to look at Texas and Arizona programs, it appears that UNC is definitely a strong favorite for him at this point.

Now is the perfect time for Harris to be looking into joining the Tar Heels, as quarterback Mitch Trubisky recently left the team for the NFL.  He likes what the team has done with their quarterbacks, and the amount of success they’ve had as a team.

“If I go there, I know I have the opportunity to win now. They have a winning culture. That system is friendly — and I know that quarterbacks have had great success in that system. I feel like it’s a good fit for me to go in there and compete.”
