LSU Football: Power ranking the most stacked SEC head coaching lineup ever
By Zach Ragan
12. Derek Mason — Vanderbilt
I actually like Derek Mason quite a bit as a head coach, even though there’s a good chance he gets fired this season.
Mason ended up in an impossible situation at Vanderbilt. He followed an incredibly successful coach in James Franklin, and he’s coaching in the toughest conference in the nation, at a school where it’s insanely difficult to land highly touted recruits.
Not exactly a recipe for success.
But I like Mason’s fiery demeanor. I like his confidence. And I think he’s had some good Vandy teams. If he gets fired by the Commodores, he’ll go to another conference and find plenty of success.
