11. Will Muschamp — South Carolina
I’m constantly surprised that Will Muschamp is still masquerading as a SEC head coach.
I mean, he’s had some decent seasons. He led Florida to an 11 win season in 2012. And South Carolina won nine games in his second season in Columbia.
Plus there was the Gamecocks’ upset win of Georgia last season, which was the highlight of an otherwise miserable 4-8 season.
But he’s just never been able to put it all together at a school.
Muschamp is basically what I consider a transition coach. He’s never going to lead a program to a national championship, but he can return a program to steady ground — for the most part — before a longterm head coach eventually takes over.
I have a feeling that’s where he’s at with South Carolina right now. I wouldn’t expect him to last much longer in the Palmetto State.
