Chris Petersen — Former Washington head coach

Chris Petersen stepped down as the Washington head coach after the 2019 season. It was a shocking move for a coach that had turned Washington into an annual contender.

So far, Petersen hasn’t displayed any interest in returning to coaching.

But there’s a strong connection between Petersen and LSU that makes this a possibility (even if it’s a bit of a long shot).

Current LSU athletic director Scott Woodward is the man who hired Petersen at Washington. At the time, Petersen had seemed reluctant to leave Boise State.

I don’t know if Petersen, who doesn’t have any SEC experience, would be interested in relocating from the west coast to Baton Rouge. But if he wants to get back into coaching, this would be the perfect job for him. I’m sure Woodward would at least make a phone call and gauge Petersen’s interest.
