Luke Fickell — Cincinnati head coach

Luke Fickell is going to be a hot name every offseason until he leaves Cincinnati.

And at this point, it feels inevitable that Fickell will be on the move soon.

Fickell’s record at Cincinnati in his first four seasons is 35-14. Over the last three years, the Bearcats have gone 31-6.

The Columbus, OH native has spent his entire college football career in Ohio. A lot of that time was spent at Ohio State, where Fickell played and coached for over 15 years before taking over as the Cincinnati head coach after the 2016 season.

I’m sure the Ohio State job is Fickell’s “dream job”. And if he was hired at LSU, he’d likely leave if the Ohio State job came open (which I don’t think is happening anytime soon with Ryan Day leading the Buckeyes).

Of course, I don’t think you can hire or not hire a coach based on where you think he will go. Predicting those scenarios is nearly impossible.

By the way, Fickell has some experience in Louisiana. He played for the New Orleans Saints in 1997.
