The breakup between Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss has been a messy one - and it's not over yet. As the Kiffin era at LSU begins, Tiger fans are wondering if Kiffin plans to bring any Ole Miss players with him to Baton Rouge.
Blake Baker's future unknown as he interviews for head coaching job elsewhere
In today's era of the transfer portal and NIL, it is not uncommon for players to follow their coach to a new school. As Kiffin begins building his 2026 roster, here are three Ole Miss players he could look into bringing to LSU.
QB Trinidad Chambliss
Nautrally, Tiger fans are wondering if Kiffin is going to bring star QB Trinidad Chambliss with him to Baton Rouge. Chambliss figures to be Kiffin's top target, and hinted at a possible reunion in Baton Rouge with a cryptic social media post on Monday.
Chambliss led Ferris State to a Division II National Championship last season, and began the 2025 season as Ole Miss' backup QB behind Austin Simmons. But when Simmons suffered an injury just two games into the season, Chambliss took over as QB1 in Oxford.
He's made the most of his opportunity, going 9-1 as the starter and leading Ole Miss to its first-ever 11-win regular season. On the season, Chambliss has completed 65.5% of his passes for 3,016 yards and 18 touchdowns with just three interceptions. He's also added 470 yards and 4.0 yards per carry with six touchdowns on the ground.
With Garrett Nussmeier out of eligibility and Michael Van Buren struggling with consistency, it's likely that Kiffin dips into the transfer portal at the QB position. Chambliss figures to be his top priority.
WR Deuce Alexander
Kiffin recruited and developed an elite WR room at Ole Miss. Deuce Alexander is a name to keep an eye on for Tiger fans.
Alexander has hauled in 34 catches on the season and is second on the Rebels with 577 receiving yards. He has big play potential, as he's collected six catches of 30+ yards so far this season.
What's really appeaing about Alexander is that he has multiple years of eligibility remaining. He redshirted his freshman season in 2023 at Wake Forest, then appeared in 11 games for the Demon Deacons last year, totaling 36 catches for 400 yards and a pair of touchdowns. After a strong sophomore campaign this year for the Rebels, Kiffin could be inclined to try to get him to Baton Rouge.
DT Will Echoles
Like Alexander, defensive tackle Will Echoles also has multiple years of eligibility remaining. The sophomore defensive tackle is second on the Rebels with 4.5 sacks on the season, and is fifth in total tackles with 51. He appears in eight games as a freshman last season, and looks to have a promising future ahead.
This past season, LSU owned a strong linebacker core and an elite secondary. However, the pass rush wasn't on the same level. The Tigers finished the regular season tied for 52nd in the country with 27 sacks on the season.
Echoles could provide a boost to LSU's defensive front next season, which makes him an appealing option for Kiffin as he builds his 2026 roster.
