In the blink of an eye, Brian Kelly went from a head coach hoping to get LSU football back to a championship level, to someone who's now out of a job. On Sunday night, the breaking news came in that the Tigers had finally decided to fire Kelly with the 2025 season not going to plan.
Frank Wilson has since been named the interim head coach and he's going to be busy in several ways trying to keep the program above water. Obviously, recruiting is going to be a top priority for Wilson and LSU, as they don't want to see any elite commits have a change of heart.
LSU fires Brian Kelly and there are 3 priority replacements to go after
The list 100 percent includes 5-star pledge Lamar Brown, who has been LSU-bound since July 10. Right after the Kelly news broke, the in-state standout went straight to Twitter to post an emotional message for the man who recruited him to the Tigers. Moving forward, though, people are going to be nervous about whether or not the SEC side will be able to keep him on board:
Thank You for being THE FIRST COACH to believe in me!!!🐯@CoachBrianKelly pic.twitter.com/ejyWF9psU8

5-star LSU commit Lamar Brown sent an emotional message to Brian Kelly after he was fired
From the moment it was revealed that Scott Woodward had fired Kelly, speculation arrived that Brown might be open to giving some schools another look. Texas A&M, which took down LSU and led to this weekend's madness, is a team considered to be on the shortlist.
The Miami Hurricanes have also been linked to Brown for quite some time - he took official visits to both A&M and Miami, while also taking an OV to Texas and LSU. Could a surprise team jump in late and work to flip the 6-4, 285-pounder?
According to the 247Sports Composite, Brown is ranked five stars and the No. 1 defensive lineman in the country. He's got college superstar written all over him and for now he's not going to have to move far to play his college ball. However, the Kelly news could end up having a big impact on who he signs with come December. His status with LSU will surely be something to keep an eye on.
