Well, that didn't take long. Following the loss to Texas A&M on Saturday night, it felt like it was only going to be a matter of time before LSU football decided to part ways with Brian Kelly. Fans had lost patience and they surely weren't the only ones.

LSU fires Brian Kelly in bombshell move that had to happen

On Sunday night, Pete Nakos and others confirmed that Kelly indeed is on his way out of Baton Rouge, with LSU officially firing him. While there's a level of shock to this news, there are three candidates at the top of our wishlist for the university to go after as soon as possible.

3. Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall

Yes, this most definitely is not the sexiest option on the list, but it no question would make a ton of sense for LSU. What Jon Sumrall has been able to get done with Tulane has been pretty fun to watch - there's a reason he's been linked to other openings as well.

With him being not too far away in New Orleans, his ability to recruit in-state talent is something that needs to be considered. He knows how to connect with youngsters and he could bring the same kind of fire and passion to LSU. He's not at the top of our list, but definitely someone to keep an eye on.

2. Buffalo Bills OC Joe Brady

Is it time to come home to LSU for Joe Brady? He remains beloved all over town, as he was on staff with the Tigers for the 2019 National Championship team. That team is widely considered as one of the best of all time.

Brady has been working his magic with the Bills and he once again has Josh Allen looking like a superstar this season. This of course isn't the first time he's been mentioned as a candidate for a big-time job at the college level. Something tells us LSU won't waste much time in getting in contact with him.

1. Ole Miss HC Lane Kiffin

Lane Kiffin is at the top of our list as our No. 1 option. Is this a pipe dream, or could it actually happen? While Kiffin has said that he's happy at Ole Miss with the Rebels, there's a feeling that if the right opportunity presents itself, he could be open to switching sidelines.

He's been heavily linked to the Florida job. Could you imagine a scenario where the Gators swing for the fences to hire Kiffin, but he tells them thanks, but no thanks because he wants to take over at LSU instead? That'd be a dream scenario for the Tigers and one that a lot of people are hoping for.
