Any NIL Money freed up by Bryce Underwood should go to Matt McMahon's top target
On Thursday, LSU took a massive punch to the gut as Bryce Underwood decommitted from LSU flipping his commitment to Michigan. This was a massive NIL battle as the reported number LSU offered Bryce Underwood was $1.5 Million per year. Losing Underwood will likely send ripples through the football program as several recruits are also expected to flip in Derek Meadows and Mike Tyler.
There's going to be a ton of money freed up when it's all said and done, and it most likely will be spent on other recruits or in the transfer portal. The move LSU should truly make is similar to what Michigan just did to keep an elite recruit home.
LSU Basketball is currently trying to keep New Orleans Native Chris Cenac home battling against some of the top programs in College Basketball. Houston and Tennessee have emerged as the two schools LSU Is battling for the elite recruit. Landing Cenac would only add to the loads of talent McMahon signed this cycle along with the talent he'll likely get back next season.
All four of the major recruiting services rank Cenac as a top ten recruit in the Country with On3 ranking him as the Nation's 4th ranked recruit, the 2nd ranked Power Forward, and the top player in Missouri where he's currently playing for Link Academy.
Cenac is that elite level recruit that can flip the entire outlook of a program's future giving a Coach a great recruiting pitch if he's able to get him drafted highly. McMahon has already shown great signs this season as his team is starting to gel.
Go make the big splash play once again
The biggest reason that LSU is in the running for Chris Cenac is the fact that they're the hometown team as every top school in the Country has come calling. Its rare to see a basketball recruit with this talent level out of Louisiana and when it happens, you need to keep the player In-State. Landing Cenac would instantly give LSU Basketball a ton of momentum on the recruiting trail which McMahon could carry going forward.
