This upcoming week is the final stretch for the LSU Football team on the recruiting trail as they'll host their final home game before the Early Signing Day the following week. It'll be interesting to see who LSU gets on campus this weekend especially after Bryce Underwood's commitment as team's try to pick at LSU's 6th ranked recruiting class.

The Tigers got some positive news with one five star cornerback as Kade Phillips shut his recruitment down despite massive pushes from Texas and will be signing with LSU in December. The other five star defensive back DJ Pickett, will head to Baton Rouge one last time this weekend for the Oklahoma game before signing the following weekend.

The visit is massive news for LSU as they'll get the final visit before the Early Signing Period which makes it tough for any team to make a last second pitch to get him to flip his commitment. One interesting wrinkle is that DJ Pickett may look to play both sides of the football at the College Level.

In 2022, Pickett caught 43 passes for 886 yards and 12 touchdowns, in 2023 he caught 52 passes for 1,033 yards and 15 scores while in 2024 he played less receiver catching 35 passes for 658 yards and 7 touchdowns.

We've seen Travis Hunter grab the headlines playing both sides of the football while players like Charles Woodson and Champ Bailey did so to a much lesser extent. If you're LSU and its a hang up in the recruitment, you should certainly allow him to give it a shot.

The Tigers currently hold three commitments at wide receiver but, with Derek Meadows expected to leave the class there will be a void at the wide receiver position. The best route for LSU would be to build Pickett up as much as possible at one position as it'd also be the best for his career but, you won't truly know that until he shows LSU what he's got on both sides of the Football.
